Memorial Day is traditionally the day
I worked a few hours in the morning taking out the bad stuff
and getting the dirt ready for the beautiful flowers I was going to buy.
And then I jumped in the van and bought 8 flats of flowers!
I planted about half of them Monday evening.
I also have been reading through
the book of Jeremiah this week because
that's where I am with reading through the Bible
so far this year.
I've been using "THE BOOK" for my choice of translations.
"Your words are what sustain me.
They bring me great joy
and are my heart's delight;
for I bear your name, O LORD God Almighty."
JEREMIAH 15:16
Packing up my mom's apartment
T U E S D A Y
Then it was back to work @ RVO in the morning.
I met my mom and Cookie at mom's apartment in the afternoon
and worked on packing up my mother's stuff
Cookie kept saying, "Your mom has a lot of stuff!"
After working with them for a few hours,
I drove back downtown where I met Dylan
and we met Shane and James for dinner
(to kind of celebrate Dylan's birthday)
Boppa was out at his friend, Thom's, for an evening of model trains.
When I got home later that night,
Nicolas called from Houston and we had a nice talk.
He was missing Rachel and Nathan!

Rachel and I had a luncheon date Wednesday afternoon
Boppa said he would play with Nathan Paul
so that we could get away, just the two of us!
We went to Olive Garden and had their all-you-can-eat
soup, salad, breadstick thing (yum).
We enjoyed ourselves so much
we totally lost track of time and were late picking up
Rachel's mom from school!
Boppa and Nathan did very well without us --
they played outside
and even took a nap together!
"May love flourish in the garden of your life"
In the evening, I planted more flowers
and did more digging in the dirt . . . ah! Happiness!

I left work Thursday and joined my mom and Cookie
for another afternoon of packing and more packing. . .
It really is fun to be with them --
Roy is so sweet to my mother!
I can't remember when I have heard my
mom laugh and joke around so much -- she is so happy!
Since I still had three flats of annuals to plant,
I worked hard at it Thursday evening!
Olivia in a phone booth on Galveston Island --
this is not where she called me from!

I was pretty tired after work and came home and took a nap!
Grandpa and I were invited to my friend Pam son's graduation party --
and a card was needed . . .
so I worked on that for awhile in the afternoon.
And then Olivia called! How nice to hear her voice!
I talked to Jackson and Karis too!
Grandpa and I went to the graduation party and had a good time.
We even got to hold a tiny baby (grandpa more than I) . . .
which only made me miss all of the grandchildren . . .
After we got home, I called Jesse and Diana.
They told me all about their week.
I got to talk to Christopher, very briefly with Matthew,
and then Emma and I talked for a little while too!
It helped to ease my pain just to hear their sweet voices.
Jesse told me that they are preparing to deploy
his unit right about August 20,
and even though they have not received written orders,
they are getting ready for the call!
I wasn't prepared to hear that!
My heart feels very heavy . . .
I'm thinking I may have to get on a jet plane
and fly down to El Paso before he leaves . . .
Adam phoned a little bit later -- quite a family day for talking on the phone!
Today I just wanted to work in the yard (which I really really love)
and then reconnect with all of you!
It has been a good week.
Interspersed throughout,
you have all been thought of, prayed for, and very much loved!
We got to see or speak to nearly all of you --
(or at least hear your voice in the background
of a telephone conversation!)
I didn't talk to Sabrina this week, but I plan to
hopefully rectify that later tonight . . .
Grandpa sends his love too!
"It is the LORD who provides the sun to light the day
and the moon and the stars to light the night.
It is He who stirs the roaring waves.
His name is the LORD Almighty!"
JEREMIAH 31:35
What a lovely Scripture for a future card . . .

Hi Boppa! Hi Grandma! We love you. We miss you. Jackson says he likes to play trains with you. And that he wants to go to church. Olivia says hi. Pre-teen... enough said but plenty of love. Karis is crawling around at our feet but says hi while trying to take off her shoes. Love ya mom. The flowers look great!
