Tuesday: David and I detoured yet again and went to St. George Island in Florida today to visit and climb the lighthouse there, all 92 steps.
These are some of the nicest lighthouse steps I have ever walked. They were low-rise deep steps which made climbing easier. The top level, in order to get out to the top of the light, was a ladder to climb! Good thing I'm not old. Ha!
This is the view from the top. That's the Gulf of America out there.
See how nice the steps are? This is a good picture of David too.
I was disappointed that there really wasn't a good way to get a nice picture of the lighthouse from the beach. See those two out-buildings in front of the light? Yes. Well ... who on earth wants them in a lighthouse picture?!?!
The boardwalk out to the Gulf.
It was a really gorgeous weather day ... except once again, it was COLD and WINDY. Freezing actually.
Cape St. George is a lovely place to visit. I made a card out of these pictures this morning and already sent it off in the mail before I realized that I had notated on the card that this place is in GEORGIA. St. George's--wouldn't you assume it was in GEORGIA? Sigh. It's actually in FLORIDA. Oh well. Maybe the person I made the card for won't know the difference.
