Thursday: Jesse had a plane to catch this afternoon and asked if I would give him a lift to the airport. It also turned out that there was a city-wide school closing, due to snowy and icy road conditions; so Kaity was legitimately home from school. SO ... I picked both of them up over at Jesse's place at about 12:30 and we headed out to the airport. We stopped by Jesse's bank first, and then Jesse took over at the wheel. It was quite slippery on the roads, and he is a much better drive than I am. We dropped Jesse off exactly when he needed to be there, so Kaity and I had some extra hours to spend together today!
We went over to the cinema at Knapp Corners and watched Moana 2. We shared a batch of popcorn, and I had candy snacks loaded up in my purse. It's been awhile since I've been to a movie theatre with Kaity! She is 12-1/2 now; so it's much easier than when she was 5! We had a lot of fun. And are those movie seats ever comfortable!
I'm not a huge fan of Disney movies lately. They are too much the same over the last 20 years or so. It seems that the only heroes are either the main GIRL in the story OR the animals that accompany her. The boys and men are secondary characters, and most of them need rescuing by the GIRL, who is super smart, super strong, super imaginative ... super everything. The males are usually weaker, stupider, frail, etc. I just don't think it's fair. It's not any less offensive to discriminate against MEN than it is against WOMEN. I AM a fan of their animation. It's beautifully done. The music is usually good; but again, it's usually sung by the same beautiful female voice that seems to sing all of the Disney music for the last 20 years. I'll have to check to see how true that is or is not.
We ate dinner at my house, played a few games of UNO, and then went to Altitude for Kaity to jump. She did a lot of good jumping tonight! It was nice to have these extra hours with my dear Kaity-Girl tonight.
Your grandma loves you a ton, Kaity!
