August 12 Meet RUBY "Red"

Tuesday:  Well, today was the big day. I still can't believe all of this happened. I never ever pictured it happening! I honestly am NOT much of a car-geek kind of person. If a vehicle drives me from point A to B and returns me safely home, I'm pretty fine with that (as long as the car isn't filled with trash, etc.).

However, after driving a KIA for more years than I can count (because I had a Kia Rio prior to the Kia Soul that just died), I definitely did not want to replace a KIA with another KIA! Not happening! Mostly because of the absolutely impossible business that Kia calls a dealership. Anyway, I already told you the story of how my Kia died.

Jesse took me out to Holland Tuesday afternoon to pick up my brand new Honda CR-V Sports Utility vehicle. WOW. It drives 100x nicer than the Kia Soul did. It's actually comfortable! AND it is a beautiful ruby red--hence, it has been officially named, RUBY ("Red" for short).

Here are a few pictures of her:

Ruby has some features on her that the Soul did not have. She has a much nicer "cruise" system--I can set it for say, 73 mph, and as I am cruising along and come up to another vehicle who is going slower than that, Ruby automatically slows down and accommodates speed so that I am never closer than 4 car lengths to the car in front of me. But then, if I decide to pass that car in front of me and speed up in order to do that, the cruise will adjust back to 73 mph once I have distance clearance once again.

It also has a nice 7" screen that displays maps and actually becomes my phone when I want it to; so anything I can do on my phone, I can do on this screen. Very handy, but a little too technically challenging for me. Perhaps I will "grow into it"!

PLUS, it averages close to 30 mph city and 32 hwy mileage. This is GOOD. It's also much more spacious on the inside, and the visibility is 20x better I had in the Soul. I am a happy camper.
