Wednesday, October 18 was Grandparents' Day at Brendan's school! I arrived a tiny bit later than 8:40 AM but I was able to see most of the student presentations. They were very well done. I was a little distracted because I was looking for Brendan, not realizing that the Kindergartner's (all 3 of them) were coming on a little bit later.
Each of the grades had a separate recitation. For instance, the fourth graders reciting the entire Gettysburg Address. The fifth graders recited the whole of the Beatitudes. One of the grades did a little rhyming ditty that included all 57 prepositions. Another grade recited some Hennyson, etc. The lower grades did some hand motions and singing with their presentations. It was super cute.
The kindergartners did their alphabet song with hand motions. Brendan did an excellent job.
Afterwards, we caught a little snack. Brendan's class made some little soft pumpkin cookies which I ate but forget to photograph. They were delicious.
Trinitas is a classical school with a strong emphasis on language and arts from a Christian perspective. Brendan is wearing his "dress" uniform, reserved for special school occasions. Isn't he just too much in it?!!

After our snacks, Brendan showed me his playground. It was pretty chilly outside but still a beautiful day.
When we went back inside, it was time for chapel and a special speaker was there who taught about FRIENDSHIP. Father Mike came from Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church and taught the children a little bit about the origins of friendships comparing friendship to the union in the Trinity and how God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit all get along with each other and work together and enjoy each other. Since we are made in the image of God, we too have the capacity for friendship.
I got to visit Brendan's classroom for about an hour. Brendan happened to be the weather person for the day and had written up on the board that it had been 48 degrees that morning. Also, their little class was up to the letter "P" in their alphabet book. We got to make a poodle together and put that "P" page into Brendan's book. We had so much fun.
Brendan was so pleased. I have to say something about this little boy. Brendan is not difficult to get along with. He enjoys EVERYTHING so much. He is not a high maintenance kind of person. He just LOVES all kinds of things and is super sweet. If he would allow, I would kiss his soft cheeks forever; but ... I am careful NOT to kiss him unless he has given permission because that would not be respectful of his feelings. Brendan gives great hugs, though, and is very affectionate. I love him to pieces.
This is Brendan's teacher. She is amazing. She has the sweetest voice, so soft, so gentle. She speaks very slowly and clearly and quietly. She uses kind and positive words. I am immensely thankful Brendan can attend this school. What a gift it will be for his education and his life.
