Rainy days and Wednesdays ...

We had temporary plans to visit John Ball Zoo this morning ... but we got rained out! We were okay with it, though, because who doesn't love a rainy day? After being away most of the day yesterday, we were pretty exhausted anyway!
I showed the kids my two "rainy day" drawers in the hallway bureau and we loaded up our dining room table with scissors, construction paper, stamp pads, water color paints, markers, Ed Emberley drawing books ... and we had SO MUCH FUN!!!
Don't you just love children's art?
We passed a very happy few hours just sitting together being creative!
Olivia is enormously talented! She used a few of my templates to trace some shapes and then filled them in with water colors ... I think the result is amazing!
Our refrigerator door is much nicer looking now!
It stopped raining mid-afternoon ... but it was still pretty soggy outside. However, after dinner, a few family members refreshed themselves outside in the hot tub ...
And then we brought out lots of puzzles and games and just had a nice time beating the socks off each other in Checkers, Give-away, Connect Four and Memory!

What a great opportunity this rainy Wednesday gave us to just hang out, relax, and enjoy each other! Thank you, Lord!

Love the kids' artwork. Rainy days were always my favorites -- for that exact reason. Art time. My mom had a book called the Rainy Day Art Book, which I thought was the coolest thing ever.

Carol Jean, I just love your blog, and the glimpse it gives me into your blessed life. With the theme of redemption always seeming to shine through, it is a beautiful taste of heaven to me, over and over.

You are an amazing wife, Mom and Grandma, to the glory of God. Amen and Amen.

Hi Shelley ~ I've never heard of that book ... but what a great title! I'm going to have to look it up and get a copy. No wonder you are such an amazing artist!

And Lois! These are exceedingly kind words ... how thankful I am to be a blessing to you, dear cousin. :)
