My compact Webster dictionary defines disappointment as follows: "To fail to fulfill the expectation or the hope of ..."
Have you ever been promised something only to find out it wasn't true? Or have you ever trusted someone, someone you loved very much, only to find out that person wasn't who you thought they were? It's tough to be let down like that. I know. One of the greatest joys in my life has been in knowing Christ. He is exactly who He says He is.
The people who were closest to Jesus, who walked around with Him every day watching His every move, listening to the kind and wise words He spoke, observing His unprejudiced love for every single human being, seeing with their own eyes (!) the healing power of Jesus, living right next to Him ~ treated as equals and as dear friends ~ they must have been so crushed, so lost, so heartbroken the day He died. They had forgotten that He had made a promise! He told them He would come alive again ... and He did! And that's the greatest news and the happiest ending to any story I have ever heard! JESUS IS ALIVE! He is the HOPE of everyone on earth!
P.S. These pictures were taken at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher (JERUSALEM 2004) the authentic site of both the crucifixion and the empty tomb.
