FALL TEXAS TRIP: Day 20

We got up early this morning and started packing up all of our stuff that we had unloaded at Sabrina's. We had said our good-byes to Olivia last night (because she leaves home Monday morning before we get up!), and had a last breakfast with everyone else this morning. It's always sad to say good-bye. Karis organized a "group hug" so that we would all feel better. She did NOT want to say good-bye. We sure had a good time in Austin with everyone. We've made lots and lots of wonderful memories!

We took the beautiful ride to Bandera this morning in the misty rain. It's nearly a two-hour trip along winding hill-country roads.
There were a few little faces who were glad to see us!
And we were happy to see them too!

I came down with some kind of a stomach flu in the early evening yesterday and still did not feel very good throughout this entire day. Regretful.
The little kiddos ran and played outside ...

... what is more fun than puddles, mud and stones?
There have been many rainy days in Bandera this last week ... so ... lots of puddles ... and cooler weather too.

Grandpa Jones got a lot of really nice photographs of the children today. Mine were not as good.
Mondays are the day that Rachel and her friend, Judy, do some pre-school home-schooling together and then they bake together all afternoon. So Judy and her two children, Hannah and Joel, were at the house today ... plus, their dog. So there were six children, three big dogs, two kitties, and ... I've lost track of everything else.

Today's home school lesson involved the color red and the square shape. So there was a little art project using red squares and glue.

Nathan made a robot guy out of his red squares and then he made a nice marker face on him too.

Nia started out making a house/building ... but she changed her mind midway and decided she would make a robot too ...
Nia had most of her fun in the glue ... and she clearly had a good time of it.
Nicolas was at work all day. We decided that since I was kind of sick and less than optimal, Grandpa Jones and I would drive into Boerne and get a hotel mid-afternoon and just rest. Good decision.
We've been resting for awhile. My stomach still feels yucky, but I was able to hold down a little soup for supper tonight, so that's good! Tomorrow, we hope Nicolas will be able to switch out his work schedule so that he can spend some time with us. Tomorrow is the last day of our fall trip and then we head back up to Michigan. I'll show you more pictures tomorrow!
