Wednesday afternoon, October 17: Trinitas let out at 11:35 a.m., so Brendan and I were able to spend the rest of the day together, PLUS we had a first-ever Wednesday night sleepover!
Last week Brendan mentioned that there was a very cool bungee jumping trampoline over at Woodland Mall, and could we go? Well, we did not go last week because of time limitations; but there was absolutely zero reason not to go THIS week! Brendan was very keyed up about this--he had done this with his folks earlier last week; so he was not a rookie. When we arrived at the mall, it was nearly noon and the trampoline/bungee area was CLOSED for lunch and was set to re-open at 1:00. Brendan and I decided to eat lunch and then come back! We went over to Costco and enjoyed their $1.50 foot-long hotdog (including a soda!). When we returned, the trampoline was open!! Brendan jumped very high, but never could do a complete flip--he tried very hard, but it never happened. Since it was $7 for FIVE minutes, we only did ONE turn. However, Brendan was super pleased.
We finally got to my house at about 3:00! Was Brendan ever surprised to see my table laid out with a few new Brio pieces: a lighthouse (with great sound effects), a drawbridge, a ferry boat, an old fashioned steam engine, AND a bullet train (with cute little people too!). He played with this train set for TWO hours straight, enacting every possible scenario in the world!
I absolutely love to watch little children imagine stuff--isn't it great? Brendan played so carefully with everything. He had so much fun.
When I was at the hobby shop the other day, I was a tiny bit hesitant to get all of this stuff--but I still have four grandchildren who are not teenagers ... I just knew it would be a good addition to our toys.
After awhile, Brendan got out the LEGO tub and built himself a very long, skinny space ship. I forgot to take a picture of it.
We ate our dinner ... and THEN it was time to go to Matthew's football game ...
