Monday, March 18: DAY SEVEN
David had a lot of business to take care of Monday, because afterall, this WAS a business trip for him. I was just "lucky" enough to be invited along for the ride! We started and ended each day at the marina--goodness, we just couldn't get enough of these beautiful boats!
We walked all around both sides and took in every single new boat that had come in over night.
I took some photos of the beautiful flowers along the way ...
I knew this was our last day on the island--tomorrow was basically a travel day ... so I decided to explore a little bit since I had the whole day basically to do that.
I took the usual stroll through the casino and out, past the Chahuly, and over to the aquarium exit.
I decided I would find the beach again and walk it ...
However, FINDING the correct path and direction to the beach, although one would think that if you just pointed your body at the ocean you would get there ... it really wasn't that easy! The pathways are such mazes, dead-ends everywhere, little side paths leading nowhere, etc.
So I did a lot of walking ...
... and walking ...
But it was SO pretty. Would you believe it was overcast and drizzling?
Oh! I finally saw a lizard! Look!
I passed the shark pool ...
And here is that tall slide I was telling you about. I don't mind the height at all, but the steep downward angle would probably kill my tailbone.
Finally! I found the beach! And would you believe that WAY DOWN to the left, at the very tip of the cove was that cute little Nassau Harbor light?
I determined I would walk all the way to it and get some AMAZING pictures ... think of all the cool angles I could get close up!
However, the cove took a bend and the trees rather covered up the lighthouse (see below) ...
I meant to show you the obstacle that kept me from my goal. About 1/2 mile from the lighthouse, there was a very high and imposing pile of rock and coral, with signs prohibiting the climb over. Not that a sign or two has ever stopped me from a good picture ... however, providentially, there was a young (rather robust) gentleman coming down from the pile of rock looking rather winded, exhausted actually. He told me that he could NOT get over the pile--the rocks were sharp, there were drop-offs, etc. As he walked away, back down the beach, I figured if a youngster like him couldn't scale that wall of rocks, how on earth did I think I was going to accomplish it? So ... reluctantly, I turned around and headed back to Atlantis ...
It was a beautiful walk ...
And then I was back to the beach where David and I had sat the other day. See that little stairway leading to nowhere? That's where we were sitting!
I took a bunch more pictures as I walked back to the hotel ...
It was evening now, and the last night on the island. I was rather sad about it!
Look at this cool-looking caterpillar! I did NOT touch it because you just never know about bugs--but I thought he was a beautiful creation just the same. You are Amazing, God. There is NO ONE like You. Thank you for all of this beauty.
