Instead of worshiping at a church Sunday morning, we worshiped at the aquarium and at the beach ... because our time on the island was very short ... and there were lots of places we DID indeed worship the Lord ... starting with the aquarium!
This beautiful place is inside Atlantis. It is chuck full with amazing marine life. I loved the colors and shapes and sizes of these fish ...
They were very cooperative of having their pictures taken too. Very polite fish indeed.
Some came very close to the glass, like they were checking US out ... hmm ... I wonder if that is possible!
Here is my brother David with a smile from ear to ear ... I love him so much.
David knew the way from inside Atlantis to the beach beyond ... so we went outside, where the aquarium continues, although it's more difficult to see the fish out there.
One of the tallest water slides in the park has a clear tube that goes right into a shark tank--it looked like a ton of fun, but I'm too old to go down a slide that huge.
There are pathways, thick with beautiful flowers, wonderfully kept ... quite a maze of paths actually. Good thing David knew the way to the beach.
Because ... here we are! Isn't it gorgeous?
The blue water here rivals that of the Mediterranean ... I could stay here forever.
We sat on and just watched it all for a very long time. It was a perfect weather day and the wind was wonderfully refreshing.
Look how clear the water is! Crazy!
We ate an early dinner across the bridge over on New Providence, a place called "Jose Frogg's." We ate outside (naturally), overlooking the docs lining the harbor. Quite a sight! AND these cruise ships!
I love the lake freighters that come through the great lakes up in Michigan. But cruise ships are pretty cool too. They are SO massive.
A typical street in Nassau |
This is the Mariner of the Seas, launched in 2003, and 1021 feet long! Wow. That's longer than most of the lake freighters we see up here in Michigan!
Watch as it leaves the harbor ...
And what a contrast between that dear little lighthouse and this absolutely enormous ship.
Very shortly afterwards, the Norwegian Sky left harbor, backing out, and then doing a complete turn-around, pivoting that immense ship in a very short distance. The Norwegian Sky was launched in 1996 and is 832 feet long.
See how it pivots? David told me this is all done by computer! Imagine that!
Rupert, here, serenaded us while we were watching the boat depart ...
Typical colorful structures in the Bahamas ... |
I loved this day, 100%!
