October 2-3 A Quiet Weekend

Saturday/Sunday:  We got a lot of rain over the weekend but at least the temperature was mild. Friday night I was invited over to Brenda's for a surprise Retirement party for her husband, Russ. What made it extra special was that her two out-of-town children flew in for the occasion and surprised even Brenda, who had no idea they were coming. It was very nice to be with her family and a few other friends I was introduced to. We sat around a little fire outside and ate yummy stuff and visited for awhile. I was just happy to see Brenda so happy!

Since Kaity is still under COVID quarantine, we couldn't see her on Saturday. Emma needed to catch up on sleep since she had worked 10-hour shifts all week--so I just did quiet stuff around the house and then we just hung out around here for the rest of the day, except we did go shopping to find Kaity a Halloween costume. We started out looking over at Kohl's because Emma wanted to get Kaity a pair of sweat pants and a sweatshirt to wear (to keep her warm), and then she was going to concentrate on getting a scary mask for Kaity to wear. We actually got it all done! We got the sweat pants at Kohl's for a very decent price. We got a sweatshirt jacket and really cute T-shirt at Goodwill, and we got the mask at "Spirit Halloween" which is located where Toys-R-Us used to be. Wow. What a selection of scary stuff! The creepiest merchandise was the clown masks and other clown items. No thank you!

We also shopped at Marshall's, where Emma purchased a very cozy robe and a very cute pair of black cat pj bottoms. Here she is with all of her purchases ...

We ended up just relaxing for the rest of the day. We did watch two more episodes of Downton Abbey and then went to bed early. Sunday was another really quiet day. After church, we ate lunch, took a nap, watched another episode or two of Downton, ate some good food, and went to bed. The rain was a deterrant to any outdoor activities. I am thankful for the quiet time we enjoyed, our good health, this dear little place of shelter, and God's always love for us.
