November 15 Olivet vs Hope

Saturday:  SO ... today is the very last football game of Chris's college career--how is that possible?!?! Four years of being away from his hometown, his "girl", his family, on a partial scholarship for football--quite an honor for this grandson. He has loved football since ... forever ... AND had dreams of being a professional football player one day. But dreams don't always materialize ... and some dreams are better left unfulfilled, don't you think?

Chris has plenty to be proud of. He will graduate this spring with a Bachelor's degree in physical training, and he plans to pursue a coaching career. I am praying that the Lord will continue to work in his life, shaping him to be more like Jesus--no matter what "job" he ends up with.

Emma and I drove over to Holland together. I love driving anywhere with Emma! Perhaps I just love being with her. I do. So much.

Hope had a very winning season, having lost only one game in the season. Olivet, however, has only won ONE game. So the chances of a win in this final game of their season, was not exactly statistically favorable.

The weather was favorable, however! It reached 61 degrees this afternoon. It was very windy at the game, so it didn't FEEL like it was 61. We were layered up, ready for anything! Here are a few pictures I took during the game.

Hope's football stadium was REALLY nice. There was not a "bad" place to sit. The bleachers were even ... almost comfortable!

It was difficult NOT to feel a lot of angst for the Comets during the game. After all, there are so many talented athletes who play for Olivet. For the life of me, I can't figure out their coach!
In the first minute of the game, Hope scored a touchdown. When you think that just the week before, Hope played Calvin and completely shut them out, well then what were the chances that Olivet would come out on top in this game? I will say this: Olivet at LEAST had SIX points!!

Olivet's defense hardly got a rest throughout the four quarters!
Chris played most of the game, and he played very well. His hands/arms are healing up after the damage that was done to them earlier in the season.

But I think the whole team was super frustrated throughout this game. I don't blame them!

So proud of you, Chris, for hanging in there--keeping your grades up, working out every day, remaining loyal to your teammates ... it's a lot to handle!
Kaitlynn brought her friend, Ayden, to the game. These two have been friends for three years now. They sure have fun together. I loved watching them play with each other during the game. They are both quite athletic!
I took a bunch of pictures after the game ... next post please.
