Thursday Evening: It's finally here! Cal's FIFTH birthday, which he has longed for since his FOURTH birthday! I have a lot of pictures to show you!
First of all--isn't Cal darling? He STILL has the softest little cheeks. And what a great smile!
The glasses he picked out at the optometrist are so perfect. Kelly says he picked them out after trying others on and decided these were the best. I didn't see any of the other frames, but these fit him so well.Birthdays are tricky for little kids ... especially if it's not YOUR birthday. Presents are exciting, even if they are not for you! It's fun to unwrap and see what is inside the box! Erin and Aidan all wanted to help Cal open his gifts. For the most part, Cal opened all of them by himself--except he did request Dylan's help a few times.
I had put Cal's box of presents up on the mantle until Dylan and Kelly were ready for the unwrapping ...
Erin very happily retrieved it and showed me how strong she was!
But first, Cal had a few presents to open from Erin and Aidan ...
They picked out very nice gifts for their brother.
Erin even made Cal TWO cards!
Here is Dylan showing Cal the card I designed for him and reading it to him ...
Aidan is offering to retrieve some scissors to help (notice Aidan's fingers) ...
It took awhile, but it finally was unwrapped. Cal recognized the Amazon box right away.
The first thing he opened was his sword and spear (I'll show you those later) ...
And THEN he opened up his dinosaur blast-off airplanes, which are very cool ... except there was one problem with them. When we assembled them, none of the three planes had their tail wings! Not in the box anywhere! So I told Cal I would return this box back to Amazon and re-order ... which I did. See the P.S. to this post.
And then Cal opened the 3-D dragon he picked out on the internet with me a few weeks ago.
Here is Cal holding his sword ...
This is Erin showing me the cool shield ...
Since Cal is having his birthday party two days from now, Kelly decided cupcakes would be good for tonight. They were especially yummy.
Little Cal loves to blow out candles. He blew the one out on his cupcake before we sang; so it had to be re-lit ... which cracked him up.
Erin showing me her very PINK lips.
Aidan got himself busily to work on a model he had picked out for Cal--Cal needed help.
Darling Erin. What a beautiful little soul you are!
P.S. I returned the dinosaur planes to Amazon via UPS and received the replacement in less than 48 hours! Look how cool these are!
I'll give these to Cal tomorrow when I pick him up from preschool. You should see how great they fly! He will love this ... I wonder how long it will take for them to be destroyed ... too bad there isn't a nearby field so that I could show Cal how high and far these will fly. I'll have to see if I can find a field somewhere ...
