Saturday: SO ... I can barely wrap my head around the fact that it has been FORTY-FIVE years since Jesse was born to me and to Jim over in the birthing room at St. Mary's Hospital. My hope and dreams of becoming a mother were fulfilled that early morning at 8:17 am after only two or maybe three pushes, only four hours of real labor. Dr. Bennet let me pull Jesse the rest of the way out once his head and arms were free of my womb. It was an incredible experience that I will never forget--that moment of having our own child to love.
To celebrate Jesse's 45th, I took him out to lunch today. I let him choose the place and we ended up eating very yummy steaks over at Logan's on Alpine. It was so nice to sit for an hour with Jesse, eat a delicious meal, and listen to him share what's on his mind. Jesse has a very intense mind. People may not know that about him--but he is quite intelligent and has a lot in his head. I'm so glad we got to have this special lunch together. Since it was his birthday, Logan's gave him a free dessert to take home with him--yummy cheese cake!
Here is the card I made for Jesse:
I love it in the Upper Peninsula--so does Jesse. I took most of these pictures when Emma and I were up north together just after her 16th birthday. Isn't God a marvelous creator?
Happy Birthday, Jesse. I love you so much.
