October 10 Cal's sleepover

Friday:  I was planning on picking Cal up over at his house this afternoon at about 4:15 (about the time his bus drops the kids off at home), but Dylan called me and told me they were having family pictures taken right after school; so they would drop Cal off to me sometime after 6 pm.

I had kind of thought (originally) that we would spend some time over at Altitude so that Cal could jump for awhile; but that was my original plan with an afternoon pick-up. Altitude gets crazy busy with birthday parties on Friday evenings, so I didn't even mention Altitude to Cal when he was dropped off at about 6:15. I just got right to the job of presenting our dinner (tacos) and then we played with lots of toys until movie time.

After dinner, we took my bin of MagnaTiles back into the spare room and did a little bit of building with them. Cal is a very good builder! We made a little vehicle for a few of our animals too.
I made a tiny church ...
After awhile, Cal switched to our Duplo set that has the pieces you can fit together to make a road. Our Micro Machines fit exactly into this.

After playing with lots of the toys in the playroom, it was time for ice cream and cookies ...
I asked Cal what movie he wanted to watch tonight and he didn't even hesitate! PETS! I have both the first and the second movie, and it was difficult to decide which one to watch! But Cal's favorite is PETS 2, so that's what we watched.

It was after 9:00 when the movie was finished. We had gotten into our pajamas prior to watching it, so we were ready to hop in bed immediately afterwards. I think it was close to 9:30 by the time we actually got all tucked in. Cal went to sleep almost immediately!

Saturday morning, we played here for awhile and then we went over to Schwalliers (which is a separate "post"), but then we came back here and played some more before eating lunch and then driving back to Cal's place.

I will say that the PlayMobile tree house was a definite "hit" with little Cal this weekend. He played and played and played with it. Most of his interaction involved various "fights" between the grizzly bear and the people and various animals. I played along with him for awhile, and truly tried to get into his little stories; but I am just NOT a fighter! Cal finally gave up with my peacemaking scenarios and played out the fights by himself.

Grizzly won every single fight!
We also snuck in 1.5 games of Chess. We did better with our first game, I think. We played a game before we drove over to Schwallier's, and then we played part of a game afterwards. Cal decided against finishing the game because he had already lost too many pieces and was not happy about it. Look at his little face!
Cal is a very serious Chess player. But sometimes the joy he gets at capturing an opponent's piece is short-lived when retribution hits.
We also built a few space ships with our space LEGOs.

We left to drive back to Cal's a little after 2:00 in the afternoon. Our little guy was quite tired and almost fell asleep on the ride to his house. It sure was nice to have you overnight, Cal. I love you to pieces.
