October 21 Kids and a toast

Tuesday:  Enjoyed lunch with my friends, Julie and Jenn, over at Russ' and then drove over to Dylan and Kelly's to do a little cleaning and then play with the kiddos. Brendan is finished now with Cross Country, so he comes home by about 3:30 in the afternoon. We visit for a little bit, but then he heads downstairs for his screen time before the little kids get home from school.

It rained most of the day today, which made me extra thankful that I got out in the woods yesterday when it was sunny and dry outside.

Rumor has it that Mr. Gregory was up and awake at 3:30 am (unbeknownst to anyone in the household) and took himself down to the basement to play some video games. I forget how all of this was found out; but Cal was not quite "himself" when he got off the bus today. Of course, I didn't know the information about his early rising until a bit later in the afternoon. Cal was unusually ornery and uncooperative! Aidan has a way of spilling the beans, so he finally told me how both he AND Cal had already gotten their screen times in prior to leaving on the bus this morning. Kelly later told me about the 3:30 am time thing (and I have no idea how this time was determined--perhaps the video game keeps tract of how much time was played?).

Here are just a few pictures of the kids once they came home from school. These little Tetrus blocks sure have given me a lot of mileage as far as playtime with the kids. Lately, they just enjoy building with them. They are very creative!

Aidan was doing some "homework" from his STEAM class on the laptop--he was somehow creating airplanes ...
Dylan and Kelly came home at 5:00 with pizza from Costco! Aidan loves to read while he eats (me too!), so he was reading "Calvin & Hobbes" out loud to us while we were eating.

Today is October 21, a significant date because this is THE date of the distribution release of Dylan's book. Kelly decided this deserved a family celebration, and brought out a sparkling fruit juice for everyone to clink glasses together in a toast to Dylan's success.

This look on Cal's face shows how completely exhausted he is ...

So, we all grabbed a glass and toasted to Dr. Dylan Pahman's book release today!
The kiddos had fun admiring the fancy stemware Kelly got out for everyone and how pretty the clear juice looked in it. Thank you, Kelly!
Not much else happened. Happy to celebrate with this dear family. Love them!
