Monday morning: Dave had to be out at the airport by noon Monday morning--so instead of going anywhere and chancing the possibility of being late for his flight, we just stayed put. I came over to sister's house somewhere around 9:30 and we played ... BANANAGRAMS.
By now (after already playing numerous games on previous days), David was KIND OF used to how we play this game. But still ...
... his expression here speaks VOLUMES! "You're kiddin' me, right?" This is what he is saying as we look up yet another "word" on Terry's smart phone Webster's dictionary. Why is David SO PUT OUT?!?! you might ask.
Let me give you some examples of "words" we actually use when playing this game:
"Q I " = I believe this is a Greek letter ... no "u" needed! Bonus!
"Q A T " = Cat in French (I think)
"Z A" = pizza!
"E F" or "E F F" = the spelling our English letter "F"
"E S" = the spelling of our English letter "S" (and you can basically spell letters in our entire alphabet in this rather absurd way).
Poor Dave. He found out also that we "twist" the rules a little bit. For instance, no one wins or loses this game anymore. Poor sister does not like to lose games! She also doesn't like it when people "peel" too often to where she has too many letters unused in her crossword puzzle. So we try to be kind when playing this game.
David is quite a competitive individual. We cracked up with him as he started realizing how crazy we play this game. No one wins? No one loses? "Does everyone get a trophy for participation?" was his rather sarcastic question.
Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do in order to spend time with folk. Our dear sister cannot play just "any" game anymore. This game causes less stress than most games for her ... and she seems to enjoy playing it at least half of the time. Just sayin.
Love you so much, David. I love laughing with you almost better than anything ...
