August 30 The GRAND HOTEL

Saturday:  I took a bunch of pictures while David and I were "touring" the Grand Hotel--many of them, once again, were of The Bridge; but here are a few others:

This rock commemorates "Somewhere In Time" filmed here in 1972. I've only seen the movie one time, because it's a very sad love story. The music is beautiful, and the setting is right here on the island ... but I just can't bring myself to watch a sad love story. Nope.

This was where we were walking when David noticed a small pathway leading up a rather steep slope through some trees and ... voila! Right up to the Hotel. So instead of backtracking and trying to find the road we missed, we just took a very handy shortcut.
We figured we would hang around up here for awhile and enjoy "the good life" without having to pay the high price to actually STAY here.

It was a good plan! We actually got to play a round of corn hole right on the lawn of the hotel, just as if we were actual guests of the place. David beat me by a very large margin.

I love Dahlias and these were especially beautiful.

We walked around inside the hotel (after PAYING our entrance fee instead of trying to sneak in another way like we did last time and ended up getting pitched out in the rain--all because of a Diet Coke!) for awhile and enjoyed every little thing we saw! Look at this fancy mirror!

My favorite place here, though, is outside on the expansive porch. The views are SO amazing.

I'm pretty sure I will never ever actually spend a night at the Grand Hotel; but that's okay. It was fun to look around and enjoy what we could of it.
I think the high temperature on the island today was in the upper 60's, but people were swimming in the beautiful pool anyway. I guess I would too if I had paid to stay here.
Let me show you my favorite pictures of The Round Island Light next ...
