Friday Night: Erin came over to spend the night here at the Beach House tonight! I picked her up at her house after school, and we drove immediately over to Altitude so she could jump and play.
It's been quite awhile since Erin has been to Altitude--so she was a very enthusiastic jumper! She had tried and tried to jump to where she could situate herself on the upper ledge; and finally she asked for help ...
... so I was able to boost her up so she could run and play up there for a bit.Erin was quite pleased to be up on the ledge walking around like she owned the place.
Erin loves to pose for fun pictures. She is seven; so I had best take advantage of her love for posing while it lasts! She will get to the point where she turns her head away from my camera and then ... it will be a trick to get any decent pictures of her! I will soak this up while I can.
Erin purposely got herself "stuck" in this crevice. She cracked up and pretended she could not get herself out. But she could, and she did!
One of the things Erin wanted to do on her sleepover was to make a sock puppet of a little character (from TV) known as "Tony Tony Chopper", who evidently is a blue-nosed reindeer. I'll show you our progress with him in a minute. Erin had fun looking through all of my craft supplies ...
Erin said she positively did NOT want google eyes on "Tony Tony Chopper", but she had fun looking at all the ones I had anyway.Next time she comes over for a sleepover, we MIGHT make a pink sock PIG puppet--she found a nice pink button that would make a great looking pig-nose.
The day or two before Erin came over, I finally found a pair of brown-ish socks we could use to make the puppet Erin wanted to make. I made the antlers out of felt material stuffed with pipe cleaners (so they could bend). I had to stitch the antlers closed, but I think these kind of look like antlers--don't you? Erin twirled some black pipe cleaners together to make black eyes for him, and picked out a blue pom-pom for his nose. We hot glued those onto his little face.
Erin was looking forward to a root beer float--but since she struggled finishing her hotdog, we decided to wait about an hour after dinner before we made the floats. Erin likes to watch the root beer foam all around the ice cream ... me too!
It was nearly 8pm before we got changed into our pajamas and talked about which movie to watch. Erin chose "Rio". I popped some buttery popcorn in the microwave, covered Erin up with a blanket, dimmed the lights, and we watched the entire movie. It's a really cute story!
Erin also played a LOT with Baby Bonnie and Baby Jesus. I had them all wrapped up in their little blankets before Erin came over. During the week, I had made a little baby bonnet/hat for Bonnie out of a discarded sock. Erin asked if we could hot glue a pink pom-pom on top, so we did! Erin also designed little pacifiers for both babies from pipe cleaners, and we even figured out a way to have them fit inside their mouths, just like real babies.
Look at Erin loving on these little dolls. She is a little mother, isn't she?
What a nice night we had, Erin! It was pretty close to 10:00 by the time our movie finished. Erin brushed her teeth and we got her tucked into her bed in the spare room. We read "The Good Knight" and cuddled for a little while and said our prayers.
