Saturday: Okay. First of all, I need to confess something. For all of these years, I thought there might be some way to get to this lighthouse via the main land because I always saw pictures of it jutting out on a tiny piece of land attached to a greater piece of land. I didn't know that piece of land was ALSO an island. As David and I first saw the little light as we were on the ferry going over to the Island, I mentioned how I wished I could walk close to the lighthouse and get better pictures. I pointed out to David that there was a tiny little sandy/rocky isthmus connecting it to land--why couldn't people go there and hang out and take pictures?!?! David rolled his eyes at me (!!) and announced that the lighthouse was sitting ON AN ISLAND and could only be accessed via boat.
Hmm. I never really paid attention to the NAME of this lighthouse. ROUND ISLAND lighthouse. It actually sits on ROUND ISLAND. Jeeps. !!
Here are a bunch of pictures I took of it:
These first few are taken from Arnold's Ferry on the way TO the island. I am shooting into a very bright sun, so I had to make some adjustments on my photo program to improve the outcome of these pictures.
They are all very similar, except the waves are different and the ferries passing by are different too. Just wanted you to know that.
The clouds in these pictures are amazingly beautiful! The wonders God has made! Just ... WOW.
I never ever thought I would get such nice pictures of this cute little lighthouse. I am super pleased and will use them on future cards, for sure.
Once we finished our ferry ride, we shopped a little bit at Mackinac City--which was very fun actually. There are so many shops! We picked up little odds and ends of interest, and then headed back home to my little house, arriving just before 9pm. David did ALL of the driving in my very comfortable RED Honda SR-V. Thank you, dear brother!
