February 3 with Kaity

Thursday:  We had such a nice new 4" layer of snow that Kaity wanted to go to the hill and slide for awhile this afternoon. Once again, NO ONE was there! Why-ever not, we wondered?

Kaity brought her snow leopard stuffed animal to go sledding with her--she thought that might help if there were no other children to play with today. So Kaity climbed up to the top of the hill with her animal and sled ... only to find that she could barely slide down today! We are not sure if the snow was just to fluffy ... or since no one had used the hill in the last few days if it just wasn't packed down enough or just what! She went down a few times with her snow leopard, but it really wasn't much fun. She tried each part of the hill--the tippy top hill, the lower hill with the big bump at the end, and the regular hill next to the stairway ... nothing worked today!

I took a few pictures (with my phone) of Kaity while she was there, but I can only get one of the 14 to upload--so here it is:

We left the hill and spent the rest of our time at my house, where it was nice and warm. We messed around with my puppets and just relaxed together. Here is a picture of Paco reading his favorite story, "When You Give a Pig a Party":

I showed Kaity the books that I purchased for Brendan's birthday, and since there were TWO books that we had never ready together, we read them--"The Pigeon Wants a Puppy" and "The Pigeon HAS to go to School" by our favorite author, Mo Willems. Kaity really likes the Pigeon books and she even enjoys reading them out loud to our puppets. Her reading has really improved this year.
