June 15 Erin at Mill Creek

Sunday:  Erin's long-awaited sleepover with her grandma has finally arrived. It HAS been a very long time since she has had an overnight with me, so it is about time.

I picked Erin up from her family at 3:00 Sunday afternoon. She was all dressed and ready to head over to Mill Creek to explore. We found her a mismatched pair of crocs to wear in the water so that her little feet didn't get scuffed up by the rocks. I took so many pictures of this darling little granddaughter out in this beautiful spot we have found. Look!

Erin was so pleased to have a net and bucket to use in the creek. One thing about this little girl--she is VERY bold and not quite afraid of anything really -- well, bugs and spiders are not her favorite by a long shot -- but that is totally understandable! The nice thing about Mill Creek is that it is so shallow and very clear. Erin was on a rock hunt today. She was trying to find the prettiest ones yet. The spot where the creek is most accessible is directly under the railroad bridge--so most of the rocks in the creek (the smaller ones) are from the rocks on the tracks above that have fallen from the bridge--they are not especially pretty.

I love these pictures of this little child ... she is in her element out here. All of the grandchildren have been this way--perhaps it speaks to children's hearts everywhere--that freedom to explore and examine all of God's wonderful creation. What a gift!

Erin and I played at the creek for probably an hour this afternoon. We were getting a bit hungry for dinner, so we walked back to my car (which I parked much closer to the creek today) and drove to my house in 10 short minutes. I'll show you more pictures to follow.
