Saturday evening: I was invited once again this year to Kaity's friend, Harper's birthday party. So I bought a small gift, made a special card, and showed up. I knew Jesse would be there (because Harper is Jesse's best friend's daughter) and Kaity (of course), as well as dear Emma. All very good reasons to go to the party--it's not like I am not fond of Harper or anything--it's just that I wouldn't know who she was without the above-mentioned three family members. So, it was good to be there!
Harper turns 10 in just a few days. She is a really fun kid. Her sister, Kenzie, is four years older--just like my sister and me.
Here are some pictures of the party:
Almost every year, the birthday parties for Harper and Kenzie have been held in their church hall a few miles from where I live. I can't remember the name of the church!I asked Harper to give me a smile and she was very kind to do so!
There was a piñata to play with outside in the parking lot. Scott was trying to get it to hang up on the basketball net ... it was super chilly outside, so I was inside looking out at this point. It took awhile for enough kids to strike the piñata and it finally broke and everyone scrambled for the prizes.
Here is Kaity-Girl, although this photo isn't focused very well and she isn't looking at the camera anyway. It's always nice to see Kaity.
The gift opening began after dinner was finished. Harper's mom and grandma baked a bunch of lasagna and rotini ... and spaghetti too. It was delicious.
The first gift to open was from the folks. There was a gift for Harper AND Kenzie! Inside their gifts were bows and I think REAL arrows. They were super thrilled with them.
Here is my Emma with her nice camera. I only get to be with her every now and then, and it was so nice to see her again.
Here are the girls showing everyone their bows.
I had worked really hard out in my tiny yard for four hours prior to coming to the party, so I was dead tired and my body was aching everywhere--so I requested Harper to open my gift next (so I could leave and go back to my warm house).
What was inside? Well ... I looked and looked for an appropriate gift for a 10-year-0ld girl--I didn't want it to be something boring or ordinary! SO ... on A'zon, I found a digital hand-held, portable, rather small-ish microscope! You can take pictures with it and it even comes with a "card" that you can upload to a computer and keep. I thought it looked right up Harper's alley, so I ordered it and it came just on time!
