Saturday Evening: I met Brenda back in January 2011 at a small group of Christian women who were struggling in their marriages. It's a long story. I'll shorten it to say that Brenda has become one of the dearest friends I have ever had. I truly don't know what I would do without her! She is so kind--but more than that, she is so HONEST; and is a marvelous LISTENER. She asks questions, lots of them--which proves she is listening! She usually introduces a question with: "I have a question--but if you don't feel comfortable answering it, then you certainly don't have to." This is one of the things I love most about her. Plus, she REMEMBERS details of conversations we have had. She pays attention. But even more than that, she SHARES of herself--her thoughts, desires, sadness, struggles ... she isn't a single bit fake. I don't think there are many people I can describe this way. An added bonus is that Brenda loves the Lord, and seeks to follow Him. She isn't a legalist. She has spiritual struggles (me too!). She doesn't claim to know everything. Anyway ...
Brenda's husband is RUSS. Brenda invited me to a 70th birthday celebration for Russ over at their place Saturday evening. Russ is a truly nice man. I believe he and Brenda have been married 46 years this year. It hasn't been an easy marriage, but they have stuck with it and God has blessed.
I'm posting this mostly because I don't have many pictures of Brenda but took a few of her at the birthday party:
This is Brenda with her oldest son, Joel. He is a policeman in San Diego. He flew in from there as a surprise to both his parents. How wonderful!
