Thursday Evening: The little kids have been talking about their upcoming school carnival for many weeks, and today was the day! I was invited to come along, which I was very happy to do. Dylan was holding down the fort at home, with Brendan, awaiting their new dishwasher delivery. Kelly was with me and the littles. Kelly requested that I keep track of Cal, so off we went! Cal can walk REALLY fast when he has a goal in mind. I did keep up with him, but just barely! We began at the playground ...
Cal was very pleased to learn there was free popcorn available. He let me have ONE kernel, but said that was all I could have of his; after all, I could get "my own" if I was hungry (I'm quoting Cal).
Is he as cute as a bug or what?
There were bounce houses and bounce house obstacle courses ... with very long children lines for taking turns; but everyone did really well with waiting in line. Here is Erin and her friend Warren.
Only 10 children were allowed at one time inside the bounce house and they were given 5 minutes to bounce and jump all they wanted, then the worker would count down from 5 and everyone inside the bouncer had to exit to allow for the next group. Actually, this worked very well.
Here is the "obstacle course" bounce house. This one was Cal's favorite. After traversing (one at a time) through the obstacle course, it ended up with a very tall slide, which was the only way to exit.
Cal loved it so much, we waited in line 6x on one occasion, and then we departed back to the playground (on the premise that we were looking for Kelly--actually, I just needed a little break from standing in line with a bunch of excited kids). We came back later, and Cal enjoyed 4 more times on the obstacle course. One time I used my stopwatch and timed his course at 28 seconds. He was annoyed with me about this and requested that I NOT do any more "timing."
What a great little kid ...
The carnival was from 5:00 until 7:30. We completely missed the pie throwing contest because we were probably standing in line waiting for a bounce house. Plus, the carnival covered a lot of ground and you could not be everywhere at one time. On the whole, though, I think Erin, Aidan, and Cal had a very fun time at the carnival.
