Tuesday: Erin has come to the end of her preschool education after TWO years at such a great little school. I brought Cal and we enjoyed a little celebration at the playground, and the kids all got to have a special bowl of ice cream. It was so much fun to be there--absolutely delightful. I couldn't wipe the smile off my face the entire hour. On our drive over to Mayflower, Cal fell soundly asleep. I was a bit surprised, because it's only about a 12 minute drive. But he was OUT. I had to carry him into the school to Erin's little class (which is where mom's and other caretakers were meeting prior to the outside party). As we walked in, all of Erin's classmates were "ooo-ing" and "ah-ooing" seeing little Cal asleep on my shoulder (naturally, my very SORE shoulder--but, oh well!).
The playground at Mayflower is just perfect for this age of kids. Cal climbed into the school bus and became the driver immediately. He ordered me about (I was told to sit behind him!) and I followed each and every command (but did encourage him to say "please").Ice cream was served in a long line where the kids could pick out the kind of ice cream, the color of their spoons, several different sprinkles ... that took awhile!
Erin really likes ice cream!
Thankfully, little Cal's bowl was only half full of ice cream. When he is nearby something interesting, food takes second place. He could barely contain himself to eat five bites ...
But he surely posed very sweetly for his grandma.
Here is one of Erin's dearest friends, Sloane--which Erin pronounces, "SWOANE".
Cal was pretty ecstatic over this large sandbox and assortment of trucks and shovels.
A very intense and serious digger, Cal had a mission in mind. He wanted this dump truck completely FULL of sand before he was going to dump it. It was a complicated task because Cal wasn't the only kiddo in the sandbox. Every now and then, a little one would come along and randomly empty the truck before Cal had finished filling it.
Darling Erin! Do you know how much your grandma loves you?!?!? Your smile! Your laughter! Your sweet little heart!
The shovel truck Cal was using to load the dump truck has a little "lip" on the shovel, which was preventing a few grains of sand from falling into the dump truck. Cal would try to empty each and every grain of sand from it (which took awhile), but I could see his little brain thinking all of this over. He finally decided that a few leftover grains of sand, though not desirable, could remain in the digger's shovel.
Dear Erin attempted making a sand castle and was disappointed when it would NOT form properly. I explained that dry sand will NOT a castle make!
Erin is a climber, big time. She is not a single bit afraid of heights! ME EITHER! I love this about her!
Here she sits on the ROOF of the little playhouse ...
She kept telling this other little girl that she was "too little" to climb up alongside of her.
Lady bug driver, traveling at the speed of light ...
I love this next sequence of pictures. Cal loves, loves LOVES playing ball. Football, soccer, basketball--you name it! Look at his little face as he shoots the basket.
Isn't he a riot?!?
He's got really GOOD form, though, for someone who just turned THREE.
The last day of school celebration finally came to an end. Cal said he was ready to go to my house, and Erin was too! Away with us!
