January 6 Emma's Car

Thursday:  We called the wrecking company this morning and found out what we needed to do next about Emma's totaled car. I also talked to State Farm, who instructed as to what we had to obtain from the wrecking company that will go along with the police report that will be submitted to sue for the mini-tort (however that word is spelled).

We met Jesse over at the storage lot--a little later than the 3:00 we had promised. It was difficult to find this place (!!) and I went WAY PAST it thinking that it was more near downtown Comstock Park; when, in fact, it was very much opposite that. As it turned out, we arrived only a minute later than the driver we had promised to meet. Jesse was waiting for us at the lot.

We took a bunch of pictures, got the license plate off the car, turned over the title, Emma paid the fee (which was surprisingly low), we emptied out the important stuff from her car, and then I took her to work.
When I picked Emma up at the site of the accident yesterday, her car was already up on the wrecker's trailer--plus, it was snowing SO hard and the wind was blowing--I didn't really get a good look at the damage until today. I am SO thankful she wasn't badly injured. Yikes.

On the receipt for the tow payment, the gentleman wrote: "Damage exceeds value of vehicle." That's all our insurance company said we would need in writing from the wrecking company.

It was still rough driving out there today. The roads were greatly improved from yesterday, but the snow didn't quit coming down until mid-afternoon, so there was still a lot of clearing to do.

As Emma was waking up today, she realized that her neck aches along with her ribs and she had a headache as well. She said it was nothing severe. This is a very good reason for us to move ahead with getting Emma a personal physician so that she has someone to see other than an emergency care person, which would be far more costly.

Thank you, Lord, for taking such good care of Emma yesterday and for allowing us to get this business taken care of today. Praying for a reliable replacement vehicle ...
