Friday (continued): Next, we wandered over to "Hog Heaven" to meet some young pigs and see what else was there to do ... Look at Erin! She was driving this truck like crazy!
I told her there were tunnels INSIDE this truck, AND I even had a flashlight (or 2) she could use to see around in there ... so in she went!
Can you see her inside the slide tunnel?
Here are the three little pigs (!!) who ate a few of our carrots ...
Erin was very thrilled with this tractor ... she kept saying: "Cal would LOVE this!"
Erin went down this giant slide ...
... and then found another tractor to ride!
The pigs were SO funny. They told us NOT to hand feed them because they sometimes mistake your fingers for a carrot, so we would just throw a carrot down in front of them and see what would happen. Erin was very intent that each pig get its own carrot ... she didn't give up until she accomplished it.
Next, we went to the fun barn play area. Erin found more tunnels and more places to climb.
Erin is a very good climber. I loved watching her. She is pretty fearless!
AND ... JUST LIKE KAITY ... Erin LOVED the Farmstead playhouse. She met a few children inside and they played "house". It was perfect.
She especially liked climbing the ladder to the upstairs ...
Look at this beautiful child ...
This area has many goats that wander to and fro looking for food ... these little ones were too hot and found shade under the wagon ...
Then we walked over to the Fort and Train playground ...
... and we visited the Prairie Dog habitat. Prairie dogs tunnel everywhere ... and wouldn't you know! There were tunnels INSIDE the habitat that Erin could explore.
Here is Erin pretending to be a prairie dog ... she is something else.
We re-traced our steps when we found we still had some carrots left. Erin fed a lot of little goats and had so much fun.
Thankfully, I brought along some easy snacks and a water bottle for Erin. It wasn't terribly HOT outside, but we did a lot of walking and there wasn't much shade. Inside the main building is the ticket office and a gift shop, an ice cream shop, picnic tables, very LARGE stuffed animals (real ones) ... like a bear, a mountain lion, a buck ... and there is also a JAIL. I arrested Erin for robbing a bank and threw her in the slammer!
She was able to break free ... but then she robbed a jewelry store (Erin loves jewels) ... so she had to go back to jail.
Erin! You are so funny!
Deer Tracks Junction is such a wonderful place. I wish I could go there every single day (almost) and bring a little one along with me. I did purchase a "season pass" for myself so that I will be more willing to re-visit this place on a frequent basis.
