Friday: Today was NOT a usual Friday! It turned out that dear Brendan was home sick from school and Aidan hadn't returned to school yet from being sick yesterday; so there were THREE boys who needed special care today. Brendan looked like he was not at all feeling well, laying on the couch when I came into the room. Aidan was feeling better than yesterday, but not really good enough to be in school. We talked about what we should do--go to my house with just Aidan and Cal and let Brendan rest at home--or should I stay at their house for the day and all be together?
Surprisingly (and happily), Brendan did not seem to want to be alone--and I don't blame him! Who wants to be sick and ALONE!?!?!?!
Thankfully, I had brought a few games with me in my bag as well as an entire loaf of Cinnamon Bread and a few other small treats to eat; so we were all set. Brendan isn't in any of these pictures--but we did interact a little bit in-between him sleeping on the couch.
I brought Chutes and Ladders, a fancy new tic-tac-toe game called "Escaping the Trap" with wolf and fox pieces (a very cute game), a memory game, and some "story cubes". We played games for hours!
We did wander down to the basement for a little while too. I was worn out from all of the game playing! Here is dear Aidan showing me a cool train layout he designed yesterday.Cal and Aidan played together for quite awhile--sometimes they struggle getting along--mostly because they are BOTH stubborn and expect that everyone will do what they want when they want it done! Ha! They did very well together today, though, so I was thankful.
I love these pictures of Aidan--I really don't have many recent pictures of him, so this was a good opportunity. He is feeling much better today--that's good news too.
Erin came home from school at her usual time; so since I had brought over "new" games, I played each of them once again with her. She was super pleased. We ate our Cinnamon Toast, had our treats, and had a very nice day together.
