We celebrate Kaity's 2nd birthday ...

Kaitlynn Jane's birthday was one week ago already, but we actually celebrated it with cake and presents yesterday over at Jesse and Diana's place. Kaity was wearing a very bright pink party dress that she had wanted to wear for a very long time (according to Emma), and now was her big day!
Kaity's cousin, Brendan, was there (and his folks!) to add to the fun. Last week, a friend of Jesse and Di's donated a used train table and all kinds of wooden trains (and others) with a bunch of related toys. This was all set up and put together in Kaity's room. Ever since their trip to Minnesota a few weeks back, Brendan has been a HUGE fan of trains; so he was quite delighted.
Brendan really enjoys following his older cousins around, and he especially likes Matthew and says his name very clearly.
Christopher was showing Brendan the "ropes" about all of the trains.

Kaity came and sat on my lap for a little while …

Brendan and Kaity checked each other out and played together a little bit too.

This is Kaity's pretty cake!
Little thumb-sucker ...
Diana's shows Kaity her cake with her TWO candles. Kaity was not at all interested in blowing them out; so we sang "Happy Birthday" and Diana blew out the fire.

Kaity used her fork (like a big girl) and dug right into her beautiful cake ...

MMMM … that's good!

It was soon time for presents. Emma helped Kaity unwrap some princess figurines that used to be hers. Emma has decided she has "past the princess stage" and has donated most of her princess stuff to Kaity now.
Emma also gave Kaity one of her "baby" Bible books. Ems said she was going to read one story per day to Kaity.

Emma is a really wonderful big sister. She so nicely helped Kaity open all of her gifts.

Then it was time for Kaity to open up the gift I picked out for her. I wasn't sure what to get! I'd picked out a really cute baby doll (newborn) that came with a few little nightgowns and a bottle, and I was all set to buy it until I went down the clearance aisle over at Toys R Us and I saw this instead ...

This is the Fisher Price Little People's Princess Castle that is supposed to play princess music, etc. It was marked at an irresistibly low price … so I put the baby doll back on the shelf. Kaity already has quite a few dolls!

Pretty soon, Kaity got all of her princesses lined up on her tray to look at and examine. Aunt Kelly and Uncle Dylan had given her a really cute finger puppet card (along with a gift) that she enjoyed playing with too.
Kaity certainly looked pretty in her party pink dress, didn't she?

toddlers ...
After the cake and gift opening, the kiddos went back to playing with the trains ...
Diana was busy in the other room assembling the princess castle!
Everyone checked every little item out on the castle to make sure everything was working properly.

Dylan offered to read a few books to the little kiddos. Brendan was quite intrigued with this "Peek-a-Boo" book. The last page is a mirror so that the little one can see their own face ...
We had a nice time together, just a brief and little bit spontaneous celebration for our Kaity. I love you, Kaitlynn!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
