April 8 At the Gardens with Kaity

Thursday:  Kaity is on "spring break" from school this week, so I picked her up a little bit early and took her over to Meijer Gardens to see the "Butterflies are Bloomin'" exhibit (and other stuff too). Since they only allow 68 people into the exhibit at any given time (due to COVID), we had to stand in a rather long line and W A I T ...

The line curved around through the desert exhibit and into other little regions where we were finally instructed to look for Monarch butterfly cacoons and caterpillars ... Kaity was very good at spotting them!
Kaity brought one of her baby dolls along for the pure JOY of Kaity's large nurturing heart ... she took very good care of her dear baby the entire time. Kaity did amazingly well during this 30-minute wait time, only complaining 2x that she was getting a "little bit tired of waiting!"
We walked passed many beautiful flowers that God designed with His amazing creativity ...
... and we passed by a cool glass house with two monarchs ... and then FINALLY, it was our time to go into the exhibit!
I took only a few pictures today of the actual butterflies because I was just enjoying watching Kaity's delight ... she was far more delighted with her "baby" than she was with the butterflies--which I find remarkable. She liked the butterflies too, but her "mama heart" continually amazes me. Several people commented and did a double-take as they thought Kaity's "baby" was actually real. And it wasn't that the doll LOOKS so real ... it's just that Kaity just exudes LOVE for her dolls, just like a mom would for her child.

Look at Kaity, holding her baby like a pro ...

This picture (below) kills me. Kaity just HAD to show her baby the little creek area ...

After we walked around the butterfly exhibit for an entire TWENTY minutes (a new record for Kaity), we stepped outside and walked over to the Children's Garden. It was raining on our walk into the Gardens from the parking lot, but it had now stopped (while we were looking at the butterflies) and this allowed us to "play" outside for a little while! I was SO glad!

Kaity is wearing her new sparkly rain boots that I picked up for her ... they worked exceedingly well. Kaity put them to every test that she could find!

I love you so much, Kaity-Girl!

It's difficult to keep up with Kaity when she is outside ... she is happiest when moving FAST!
But she did stop now and then to actually READ (!!!!!) a sign or plaque along the way ... good for you, Kaity! YAY, reading!

What a wonderful time today, Kaity! I'm so glad we got to do this together. Interestingly, we drove home to my house to eat a quick meal before driving out to Kaity's swim lesson--when we arrived there, we found out there had been a "diaper mishap" in the pool during the prior session which necessitated shutting the pool down for the rest of the night; so Kaity's lesson was cancelled. SO ... good thing we had such a nice time prior to that bad news! Thank you ... thank YOU Lord for always always always providing for us!
