So nice to see Emily!

Sunday night Grandpa and I had a surprise visit from Emily! It was so good to see her after three long months. She is in Grand Rapids for approximately two weeks because her friend, Jen, is getting married and Emily is in the wedding.
Adam drove her here from the Twin Cities on Saturday. Emily said it was a really long drive, almost 12 hours. They encountered some traffic situations, one of which was a tanker on fire which shut the freeway down (the one they needed!) and they had to go around. They got to Grand Rapids just in time for Adam to drive himself to the airport to board his flight back to Minneapolis/St. Paul and then Emily just drove the rest of the way to her folks. So we didn't get to see Adam at all! And we won't get to see him when he flies back into town to retrieve his bride either. Why? Because Jen's wedding is Friday, July 20. Adam is flying in that day after work, hopefully in time to make it to the reception. However, that very same day is the day Grandpa and I leave for the Jones Family Reunion in Cochocton, and we aren't returning until Sunday, July 22. Adam and Emily are driving back to Minnesota on Saturday (while we are in Ohio), so you see? We are going to completely miss seeing Adam. This is not very good timing! On top of that, Sabrina and Andrew and kiddos are coming back to Grand Rapids for that entire week following the Ohio reunion and would have loved to have seen Adam and Emily. Like I said, bad timing!
It's good to see Emily! Thomas K was hanging out with us on the back deck being his usual annoying self. Emily swears Thomas K has grown, but she is used to her cute little kitten, Pixie. Emily told us all about where she and Adam are living and some stuff about Adam's job. He is now out of training and is officially involved in the job. She says he likes it just fine. They live just 15 short minutes from the Mall of America! When we go and see them in the fall, we are going to have to check it out!
Emily came by last night again. Mr. Jones was out at his Monday night train club. Emily had been to Hobby Lobby and had purchased some beautiful beads for her jewelry making. She got them all organized as we chatted for a little while -- and then I had to go to bed! I had worked a long day and was really sleepy!
We're going to have dinner with Emily tomorrow night. The rest of the week is pretty busy for her with going to wedding parties and meeting with friends. It sure is nice to see her!

I spent tonight hanging out with my usual group of friends and a recent "recruit," Marc, who turns out to be Dylan's roommate. How small is the Grand Rapids world? :)
