Day Twelve: Fun and Games ... and MORE rain in Austin!

"Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants." Deuteronomy 32.2.
Guess what?! It poured down rain ALL NIGHT LONG in Austin ... this is a GOOD thing. They really haven't had pouring rain in this part of Texas for a very long time. Lake Travis, a very beautiful lake a little north of Austin, is 40 feet below its "normal level," so this rain is very welcome. The rain continued pretty much all day long. I think Grandpa Jones and I bring the rain with us every single year. The picture above is of Karis and Jackson helping themselves to some yummy scrambled eggs this morning.
We brought Sabrina's birthday gifts with us (one month late) and had her open them at the breakfast table. We got her some stuff for her Slice Design Cards that she uses for scrapbooking, as well as a game of Apple Scrabble (the game my sister and I played on our sister's retreat up north) ... we're going to play the game as soon as I finish up this post. We also brought Olivia's gift with us, even though it is two weeks yet until her birthday. This summer when she was up in Grand Rapids, we had watched the movie, "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" and she liked it so much that we bought a copy for her ... and we also included some money because she is saving up to buy her own laptop computer. I didn't take any pictures of Olivia opening her card and gift because we had just woken up and we weren't looking our best. Olivia is almost 14 and it is understandable that she wouldn't want her picture taken first thing in the morning.
We played some games in the playroom this morning. I had never ever played Hi-Ho Cherry-O, so Jackson, Karis, Sabrina and I played three games of it! We had so much fun. Sabrina has an extra Hi-Ho Cherry-O game that she says I can take home with me so that when little kids come over, we can play it together. Actually, I will take it to play with the inner city kids I work with on Saturday nights over at church.
This is Jackson flying through the air like an acrobat ... the game was that he would balance up on Sabrina's feet and then get pitched off onto the bean bag chair just beyond his mama's head. He was having a blast doing it.
And we did a whole bunch of beautiful puzzles ...
This is the cool train track Jackson and Sabrina built ...

We had been in the house all morning and needed to get out for a little while, so we all drove over to The Hill Country Galleria because Livie wanted to go to Bath and Body Works for some needed personal stuff, and there is also a really fun toy store there. We played in the toy store and enjoyed some pizza at a nice place in the Galleria.
The rain settled to a steady drizzle, so the upstairs porch was a nice place to hang out ... fresh air without getting too terribly wet.
I had a little shadow today by the name of Karis Danielle. She is hysterical to listen to. She never stops talking and says the funniest stuff. She was being my laundry helper in this picture.
The little kids did some water color pictures later in the afternoon. There is almost nothing I like better than sitting at a table with little children and art supplies ...
Grandpa Jones was helping Olivia with her Science homework. She is studying the Periodic Table of the Elements. She had a whole bunch of questions she had to answer about it and Grandpa, who is an expert in all science matters (and very humble about it ... I am NOT being serious about that) ... so he was being helpful.

The rain finally stopped and Jackson ventured out back to play in the ... MUD. Look at his happy Huckleberry Finn smile ...
And this is Monty ... isn't he a cutie?

Another day has come and gone. Our vacation is going by much too quickly. The rain is supposed to continue tomorrow, but no bother. Tomorrow we are worshiping at Hill Country Bible Church Dripping Springs, which is meeting for the very first time tomorrow morning. Andrew and Sabrina are part of a new church plant, and so we get to be there for the very first service. I'll try to tell you about it tomorrow.
