We get to see Olivia run!

Grandpa Jones and I were really happy to be in town for Olivia's Regional track meet that was held kind of far away actually ... all the way in Lampasas. This was the last meet of the season between seven district schools. Olivia is in the 7th grade out in the Dripping Springs School district. She is a runner on the track and field team. This is her first year doing sports. She has a very competitive spirit and she is really fast!
Olivia has a close friend, Isabelle, who wanted to come and see Olivia run too. So we had to wait until Isabelle's classes were finished at school, go and pick her up, and then drive the 1.5 hours out to the track meet, eating dinner on the way.
Olivia runs the 100 meter dash. She placed third in her heat on Monday but didn't make it to the final run. We thought placing 3rd in her heat was pretty good since this is her first season. She was disappointed, however, that she didn't make it to the finals.
We just missed when Olivia's team ran the 4 x 100 meter. Out of the seven schools participating, her team came in 3rd place! In fact, the 7th grade Dripping Springs girls were leading in points for all of the track and field events.
We saw Olivia run the 4 x 200 meter relay. I'll just post those pictures for you and comment later.

So that was the 4 x 200 meter relay, 7th grade girls. Olivia's team came in 5th ... but at one point we heard they were 3rd ... and we really don't know the final results yet. There was a question of one of the teams being disqualified. We'll know more when Olivia gets home from school today.
Doesn't this bring back memories, Emily? Our Adam's Emily ran track for Rockford, while Adam was a high jumper (as was Nicolas) ...
And since we never ever get to take pictures of Olivia, we kind of cheated yesterday and took a whole bunch. I won't have a chance to edit mine until I get home ... most of these are Grandpa Joneses pictures. It was just nice to have the opportunity to actually photograph her.
Congratulations, Olivia, on your first successful track and field season! Great job!
