Good times with the kiddos ...

It was an eventful weather week around here which made for some tricky travel days. I went to work all week and the commute was really LONG. I was glad, though, when we got a little break in the snow … enough to where I could pick the grandchildren up Friday night to spend the night. We ate a later dinner because we didn't arrive home here at our usual time. We settled down for our movie and it was Christopher's week to choose! "Despicable Me" was watched by the kiddos, while I snoozed on the couch--I've never seen more than 10 minutes of that movie yet!

The children have a rather large screen television at their house, so it kind of cracks me up that they are willing to watch an entire movie on my very small laptop … but they do not complain!

Everyone had a good night's rest! We enjoyed a nice breakfast together and then we got ready to go to a birthday party for a dear friend of mine ...
We were invited last year and the grandchildren LOVED going to this family's home. Nigel is from the UK and Gela (his wife) is from Germany. They have so many interesting things to look at and do at their house! The children are especially taken with Frechie (German for trouble-maker), their beautiful bird ...

I love these pictures of Christopher … he is SO interested in this beautiful bird!

Angela told us that Frechie doesn't like to be alone because he gets lonely! So she spends a lot of time talking to him and making sure he has adequate company.

Emma had so much fun taking pictures of Frechie with her phone. She got some really good pictures of him!

These next two pictures were taken by Emma ...

This crazy one in the mirror was ME trying to do a selfie … Emma kept telling me I was messing it up! "Grandma, your camera is going to be in the picture!" "Lower your camera, Grandma!" "Try facing your camera the other direction!" I never did understand what she was trying to tell me … but she is right … it turned out goofy.
But then it was Emma's turn to hold Frechie ...
And he climbed right up her arm and sat on her shoulder ...
I think Emma was very surprised by this! Plus, she could no longer SEE him, and she said it felt "creepy" to have him on her body where she couldn't see what he was doing.

Aren't these great pictures of Frechie and Emma?
Christopher got to have some time with Frechie too ...
And look at that smile on Matthew! He was thrilled to be holding this bird!
We didn't get home from the party until nearly 3:00! And the kiddos still wanted to do all of the "usual" weekend activities … so the boys built with LEGOs, Emma and I did some talking and reading ...
We also played a game of Kismet -- Matthew WON! He even got TWO Kismets! He was pretty excited about that.
Here are two more pictures that Emma took with her phone ...
 Good job, Emma!
The weekend always zooms by too quickly! Very thankful for each opportunity to spend time with these beautiful grandchildren.
