A rather un-tigerly experience ...

After we left The Critter Barn Saturday afternoon, we decided to swing by the zoo to visit the tigers. We've been waiting for several weeks now for the tiger habitat to be finished and for the tigers to move in.
It was almost 4:00 by the time we arrived. We heard lots of murmurings about how the tigers were still getting used to their surroundings and didn't often venture out of their enclosure (which has no windows).
But we decided to hope for the best! After all, hadn't Mrs. Grizzly come all the way down right in front of the huge window we were standing next to? Perhaps the tigers would do the same!
Sadly, this is a picture of a …
picture.
Actually, the tiger habitat is a long way from being finished. Perhaps when they have more room to roam, they will come on out and … roam! We finally resigned ourselves to the inevitable … the tigers simply were NOT going to be seen today. So we wandered on down to visit with the lions ...
… who were quite unsociable as well. The above pictures were taken with my zoom lens. "Aslan" was not coming anywhere NEAR his admirers today.
However, this komodo dragon in the lizard house was quite friendly. He kept sticking out his forked tongue (it's deep red and REALLY long!) but I never did catch a good photo of him doing that.

I'm certainly glad I have a Grandparent membership to the zoo, because we are NOT going to give up on these tigers ...
… until we see them up close and personal! Taking pictures of tiger pictures doesn't quite make for an adventure. Sigh.
