Adam and Emily's Quick Visit

We were really glad to see Adam and Emily today. I didn't know they were coming until I talked to Adam Thursday night on the phone. Mr. Jones had called them late the night before asking about their well-being due to the bridge collapse in the Twin Cities. Adam called to tell us he and Emily were just fine. They never really go into town using that expressway. We were glad to hear it! Adam told me then that he and Emily were briefly coming to Grand Rapids for a wedding Saturday afternoon, but would not actually be arriving until 2-3:00 a.m. because they couldn't leave until he was finished working Friday. Since I was stopping by Meijer to get some candles for Mr. Jones' b'day cake, I decided to pick up some of Adam's favorite donuts (cream-filled long-johns).
Adam and Emily look pretty tired from their long drive

They didn't actually arrive until 4:00 in the morning -- something about the 131 exits being all blocked off and having to go all the way to the Cedar Springs exit and do a turnaround -- oops -- I forgot to tell them about that! We visited for a little while at the table, and Adam told us about his job. He seems to be enjoying it very much.

Adam had been looking all over the house for Thomas-K because last night (actually this morning) Thomas had interrupted their brief sleep by scratching at their door. Adam said he was amazed at how big Tommy looked from when he had seen him four months ago. I told Adam he was just used to his little Pixie cat and that's why Thomas appeared larger, but Adam was not convinced. But do you think Thomas would "show up" so that Adam could rough around with him?

Our very own Thomas-K

No! As Adam and Emily were driving down our street, before they even got to the corner, out came Tommy from the bushes, meowing and complaining loudly that they were leaving ... I agree with you, Tommy!
