Morning play ...

I totally forgot to tell you about our caterpillar in last night's post! "Aunt" Judy and I took a brief walk in the neighborhood, just around the corner and up the street a bit, and we found lots and lots of caterpillars also strolling about ~ right in the middle of the road! We rescued a few of them, placing them in the grass, but soon gave up our rescue efforts because there were too many! I decided to bring one home with me for the kiddos. We put a few sticks, some grass, a few pretty leaves, and just a couple sprinkles of water in a glass jar, placed our caterpillar in the jar ... and then covered it over with wax paper. We're going to watch and see what Caroline does in the next few days ...
Jackson was up bright and early this morning. I could hear him talking to his LEGOS that were situated on the dining room table, so I came downstairs to see what exactly it was he was saying! We went right away into the family room to check on our caterpillar. I asked Jackson if he thought it was a boy or a girl. He very confidently asserted that this particular caterpillar was a girl. So I asked Jackson what we should name her. I suggested the name "Katie", because I really like that name, but then Sabrina (who had joined us) reminded Jackson that he has a friend at school by the name of Caroline ... so our caterpillar was then and there officially dubbed "Caroline!"
We played with various stuff throughout our morning, enjoying Jackson's brand new City Scape LEGOS ...
Karis and I got out all of our stuffed animals and put them into our little battery operated car to see which animals were the best drivers ... some were too big to fit and kept falling OUT of the car onto the highway ... ouch! Karis thought it was great fun to have crashes and watch the animals fly through the air.
And we also worked on our foam puzzles for a very long time this morning ... we had them stretched all along the kitchen floor from one end to the other! We've eaten our lunch and the little kids are napping ... and in just about a half hour from now, we are going to load everyone up in Grandpa's van and drive out to Grand Valley State where a very good friend of Sabrinas (and ours!) is getting married. We will not be home for the rest of the day ... so the toys are going to have to hold down the fort until we return!
