Good-bye February, Hello March!

We saw February go out this weekend and March come stomping in … she came roaring in like a LION. I'm hoping she simmers down and leaves us like a mild little lamb! We are in another deep freeze here in Michigan, and we are picking up 1-2 inches of snow almost every day. Grand Haven has a measured accumulated snow amount of 143.9 inches as of this morning! That's a LOT of winter, even for West Michigan.
The grandkiddos were here this weekend for an overnight and all-day Saturday. We didn't do anything special. The main reason was because THIS little gentleman (Christopher, below) ...
was quite under the weather the entire time! He simply couldn't eat anything at all without getting sick. Thankfully, he was able to get off the couch occasionally and work on the books he has been making. I felt very badly for him all weekend. Since Christopher wasn't feeling well, we did not venture outside to play, and we kept things very low-key all weekend. Matthew continued working on his books too.
Our Friday night Bible story was about Naomi and Ruth, followed by Ruth and Boaz. The children colored a few of these pictures while I taught the lesson …
We learned many things from these stories about friendship, love, loyalty, sorrow, and suffering. We discovered that Jesus is our Kinsman Redeemer, that He has purchased us as His very own, paid for by his own blood on the cross, and now we belong to Him! We had a very good story time this week. As we review prior lessons, the children demonstrate a very good memory for details!

Our Friday movie was "Prince Caspian." I fell asleep during the movie … something that rarely happens! But it was a very LONG movie, the kids were really "into" it, and I rested my head for what I thought would be a split second and suddenly an hour had gone by with me sleeping!
Saturday, we just hung around and played together. Emma found my really old marble run and played for quite awhile with it making all kinds of different configurations for the marbles.
Matthew and Chris did lots of drawing and art projects. Matthew did his usual origami folding as well.

Even though we didn't do any exciting stuff this weekend, we were thankful just to be together, sharing our lives with each other here at the Beach House.
