Our first zoo trip of 2015 … but surely not our last!

Little Fellow and I headed off to the zoo Saturday morning -- the first perfectly sunny and warm day (almost) that we have had this spring! For some reason, Brendan was mostly excited to see the flamingos; sadly, they were not out yet! There were five pelicans that he enjoyed, but zero flamingos.
Actually, there were tons of exhibits that were not officially opened yet; such as the sting rays, the baboons, the budgie birds, the pygmy goats ...
Thankfully, the farm was open and there were plenty of goats to enjoy ...
Brendan is not one bit afraid of animals. He loved being in this place with critters quite a bit larger than himself!
We hiked WAY up to the top of the zoo to see if there were any tigers home. YAY! Last year, I had gone three times near the end of the season to see the tigers and never saw any at all. But Saturday, both tigers were out and about ...
They came VERY close to the window and got acquainted with Brendan who was roaring at them and shouting, "Dinosaur!!" at the top of his lungs. Poor sweetheart is under the delusion that if he shouts "Dinosaur!!" it will evoke fear in any living creature. This is, of course, his family's fault (including me) because when we animate our puppets for him and he shouts, "Dinosaur!" we pretend that Paco and Cocoa are TERRIFIED and run away and hide making squeaking sounds--which cracks Brendan up.
These tigers were NOT impressed with Brendan's roaring and shouting whatsoever. What was kind of fun, though, was that they would walk by the window and look as if they were not coming back; so I would say (kind of softly), "Please Mr. Tiger, come back so we can see you!" and every time, one of the tigers would walk back to the window. Brendan thought it was pretty cool that they would come when I called for them!
Yikes. This is as close as I have ever been to a tiger. Brendan enjoyed every single second of it.
We left the tigers and walked down the boardwalk to where the camels were and I actually allowed myself to get talked into riding a camel with Brendan … Brendan is the one who talked me into it! We rode on top of Ellie the Camel. It was a very bumpy ride with Brendan smiling from ear to ear. I didn't get any pictures of our fun because … well … we were on top of the camel holding on for dear life.
I will hopefully do a better job of photographing our time at the zoo next time we go! Little Fellow had so much fun … me too!
