A lovely invitation and evening at Acton Institute

April 24, 2014:   Dylan has worked as a research associate at Acton Institute for the Study of Religion and Liberty for more than four years. His job is an assistant editor of their Journal of Markets & Morality. He was asked to join a panel discussion Thursday night (April 24) with artist Margaret Vega, whose work was being presented and has been on display over at Acton for the last few weeks.

Dylan and Kelly asked me if I wanted to come and meet Margaret Vega, attend the lecture and discussion, and view her work entitled: Perpetual Order. Yes! I definitely wanted to do this! Margaret Vega's work is pretty impressive, beautiful stuff! She says she has felt drawn "to the haunting beauty" of  angels (messengers) her whole life, visiting cemeteries all over the world to examine stone angels and monuments. She says these angels "provide imagery for what she perceives as our need to leave something behind, something grand and timeless, to mark our evanescent journey."
Dylan, with the other panelists, waiting to speak.
The artist, Margaret Vega, is on the far left
Dylan's discussion topic was, "Death and the Struggle for Permanence." He (as always) was beautifully articulate and delivered his subject with passion and conviction.
Acton has been in their new building for over a year now. It's a pretty recognizable building because the rear of it was an Art Prize 2011 (??) entry and will remain until it … falls off I think!
Thanks for inviting me, Dylan and Kelly! I so enjoyed walking around Acton's beautiful building, meeting some of your colleagues, viewing the art, and listening to the discussion. I was a pretty proud parent tonight!
