September 3 in Grand Haven

Sunday Afternoon: We worshiped this morning at Calvary Church (always a wonderful experience) and then went out to lunch. Ruthanne and Terry had friends that were meeting them at church--people from their home church in Detroit who were camping in the area--so those four went out to eat separately from David and I (since we didn't know these folk). Dave and I ate at "The Score" and then came back home to get ready to drive out to Grand Haven once Ruthanne and Terry returned.

So we arrived out at Grand Haven somewhere around 3:30. What a gorgeous day! High waves! Crowded beach! We didn't drive out there to swim, however, but just to BE there and enjoy the beauty.

Parking was a bit tricky, so we had a distance to walk ... but that was okay. We intended to walk the pier out to the end and just sit and watch the boats go by ...
But due to the high waves this afternoon, the pier was CLOSED. Pooh.

We stayed out by the pier for a little while watching the swimmers get pounded by the waves and watching some wind surfers as well. But then we walked back down to where we had set up some chairs. I was still FULL from my lunch, so I didn't get any dinner--but we were sitting right across from Butch's Beach Burritos and some of us got food there. I LOVED this place 30 years ago when the boys were little. We almost always ate here when we came out to the beach.
The sun was beginning to go down, so we crossed the channel (by car, not by boat) to the Ferrysburg side and settled in to see the sun make its glorious departure ...

Since I know absolutely nothing about photography, I realize these are not the best sunset pictures; however, I do like some of these and will use a few of them for future cards. I love the colors and the clouds. No one can do art like the Lord. There is no one like Him!

This was our last excursion with our dear brother for this year. He leaves tomorrow to return to Tampa. NEXT year, we are planning another Labor Day trip perhaps to Mackinac Island and Sleeping Bear Dunes. We hope Carol will join us for that trip.
