We resume our Saturday afternoon adventures!

The wind was quite brisk Saturday afternoon and the temperature was not as warm as it had been the prior two days … but it was so completely BEAUTIFUL outside that we simply could NOT neglect to enjoy it! We started out over at Pickerel Lake ...
Emma was rather COLD in the wind,
but she didn't want to wear a jacket!
There are hiking trails that encompass all of Pickerel Lake, and someday we will take the hike around the entire lake; but Saturday, we explored various trails … some of which we had not traveled last fall.

This park is very well cared for. The trails are well marked. It's a really beautiful place to explore.

I think the kiddos are getting used to my love of the woods, and I think it's catching on to them too! They are much more at ease now in the woods than they were last fall. I'm so glad! I love a woodsy afternoon!
At one point in our trail blazing (!), we got to a seeming dead-end. Thankfully, all of us are thin enough to maneuver around this barrier. It isn't made to go through in this direction, only from the other! How weird ...

We met a rather friendly goose on our journey and named her "Lucy."

We did quite a bit of walking. The sun was shining. The air was clean and fresh. Buds were blossoming. The smell was … delicious!
More and more lately the boys run off together and leave us girls in the dust. I zoomed in on them in several shots ...

I love the following pictures of Matthew ...

We decided that since we were so near Townsend Park, we would stop there too. It was lovely to see the creek again … all the high grass has been cut away and new life is springing up everywhere.

We played for a very long time at a few of the nice playgrounds there … the kiddos met some other children and were instant friends.

These kiddos play HARD … expend so much energy! It's wonderful to watch … and even participate as much as an old granny can!

Hopefully, our winter is over and gone. It's helpful to be able to mix up our inside stuff with outdoor activities …. gives us a bit more variety on our weekends … and it's always an adventure!
