August 15 with Kaity at Roselle Park

Kaity's first try at the climbing wall!

Saturday Afternoon:  Kaity had remembered driving past Roselle Park the other day when we were together--but we didn't have time to stop and explore at that time--SO, it was a special request of hers today. Perfect! I would much rather be outside ANY DAY than stuck inside. Rain was threatening, but we didn't let that stop us--no way.

There is a rather unusual "playground" at Roselle. No swings. No monkey bars. But lots of interesting stuff to climb. Kaity is all about climbing.
See these silos? You used to be able to go INSIDE the one on the left and climb something like 105 steps to the very top where, in theory at least, you could access the lookout platform. I've climbed to the top quite a few times (once with Emma, another few times with Brendan) only to find the door that leads to the observation deck LOCKED. It was so disappointing every single time! But TODAY, the door at the bottom was locked as well. At least Kaity and I didn't march up 105 steps for nothing!
Kaity is an excellent climber! Look at her go!

Years ago, I remember taking Emma, Chris and Matt here. They had a blast climbing on these rocks and playing "King of the Castle" (or "Queen" as the case may be).
Kaity did a good job making it to the top. She asked me to try, but I am NO fool -- OLD, yes--stupid, NO.

I love these pictures of Kaity. She was so happy to be out in the fresh air, especially with an impending storm gathering!

Some of these pictures are taken AFTER we got caught in the rain, but I'll tell you about that in a different post.

Thank you, Lord, for this beautiful time with Kaity-Girl. Such a gift!
