Two for Saturday

Saturday, January 12:  The stomach flu has made its rounds throughout Jesse's household throughout the week. The only one untouched by it at this point has been Kaity-Girl. Matthew's came and went earlier in the week, so he and Kaity came over this afternoon to hang out.
We played a bunch of games together. The one pictured above is a Memory Game invented on the spot by Matt. He decided it would be FUN and good for our brains, if we took a double deck of playing cards and tried to find perfect matches. I think (!) a deck consists of 52 cards, so here is Matt laying out 104 cards on our table, precisely to his design. We had already played three other memory games--Matt won two of them and Kaity one. We won't talk about the games I won.

Needless to say, Matthew's genius memory game was completely frustrating to our brains. We did find a FEW matches, mostly by complete chance, totally random. But after 20 minutes and NO further matches, we gave it up as a lesson in frustration.
Kaity had fun playing with her Wild Adventure Playmobil set--actually, we all had fun playing with it!

Look how much Matt has grown up this year! Yikes. He doesn't look at all like a little kid any more. Afterall, he WILL be fourteen in just three months. This is a nice picture of you, Matt!
Kaity and Matthew played back in the playroom for awhile--Matt was kind enough to build "houses" for some of the stuffed animals ...

Kaity also added to her window picture from last week ...
The last thing we did was to put on a few puppet shows (Kaity's idea). I have a ton of finger puppets and our very own puppet theatre for them too!

Kaity was absolutely delighted making up stories with the puppets (although I will say that most of the stories were repetitiously violent--I keep telling the kids that my toys are "nice" and don't hurt each other, etc.).

It was a good time together. We did NOT have a formal Bible story tonight. Instead, we went on-line to TheBibleProject.com and watched the I Samuel video as a review for the last few lessons we've studied on the kings and prophets. I encouraged Matt to access this very cool and helpful Bible site on his tablet or phone at home. I hope he will do this!
