A post-holiday treat

Wednesday, January 2, 2019:  I picked Brendan up at 2pm this afternoon and we headed on over to Meijer Gardens. It was the perfect day to visit there, post-holiday at least. We looked at the beautifully decorated Christmas trees from all around the world.
Below is a beautiful nativity scene created in FRANCE, hand-made dolls with beautifully crafted fraces and outfits. Brendan especially liked this one.

Some of the beautiful ornaments ... I forgot to take note which countries they represent ...

"Big Red" lighthouse (Holland, Michigan) depicted in this gorgeous scene ...
Brendan, watching for the trolley to pass by ...

 Getting a closer look ...
 Examining a steam locomotive ...
The cool train layout above our heads ...
When we finished looking around INSIDE (90+ minutes worth), we ventured outdoors in search of the swans ...
We looked everywhere for them ....

 But alas, no swans today!
"Perhaps they are hiding in the high grass, grandma. Maybe they made their nest there." Perhaps, Brendan ...

 "Look grandma! Come here!"
 "This is his tomb, grandma."
"This is where they buried him." Brendan, speaking of Fred Meijer.
I love these pictures of you, dearest Brendan.
"This is an old-fashioned sleigh, grandma! I think it used to fly."
We discussed the likelihood of that occurrence ...

... and finally decided that the horses could not POSSIBLY fly ... so neither could the sleigh.
What a delightful few hours we enjoyed at the Gardens today. I wouldn't trade it for the world.
