Grandparents' Day, Trinitas Classical School

Wednesday, October 17:  Today was GRANDPARENTS' DAY at Trinitas! I've been looking forward to this day for WEEKS! Brendan has been practicing his singing and poetry and was all ready for the BIG day! I snapped only a few pics during the performance because Brendan gets a little bit self-conscious when I'm taking his picture--and I didn't want to do anything to mess with this important event ...

The Kindergarten class is much bigger than last year (there were only 3.5 students in Brendan's Kindergarten class!). They began the program by reciting the Old Testament Bible Timeline complete with hand motions, etc. It was something to listen to and behold. Grades K-2 recited "The Clock" by Mother Goose, and then Grades 1-6 recited a World History Timeline that was amazing. Grades 1 and 2 sang "The Doubles Song" (a math number), as well as "This Little Noun", "Michigan Symbols" (like the State bird, flower, animal, etc.). The older grades recited the entire thirteen verses of Psalm 104, as well as sselected speeches from "King Lear" (Wm. Shakespeare). And then the Kindergarten closed with "See You Later, Alligator" (bye-bye butterfly, after awhile crocodile, toodle-loo kangaroo, etc. I wish I could remember all of it). The whole program was VERY impressive.
Afterwards, Brendan surprised me with the fact that he lost ANOTHER tooth--look at him! Doesn't he have the most beautiful smile in the world!?!?!?!
There was a little intermission between performance and chapel time. We got to eat nice treats that the children baked. Brendan's class made Apple Pie Bits--they were yummy delicious.
Trinitas has a visiting pastor once per month. Today's pastor was from St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. He talked to the children about the virtue of Self-Discipline, learning to say NO to yourself so that you can so YES to something better. It was very fun to listen to the children interact with Father Mike.
THEN the grandparents got to visit the students classroom. Brendan was SO excited to show me their FIVE Painted Lady butterflies that had emerged from their crysalis on Monday! Ooo. They are super pretty, aren't they?

In the hallway, art work was hanging up. This is the portrait Brendan made of his Grandma Carol. Isn't it great?

AND look how Brendan's milk weed bugs have grown!
Brendan and I colored a butterfly together, and I learned that a butterfly's wings match each other. I never knew that before (duh). So we made our two wings match!
