Gift of God

Saturday, December 8:  I'm never certain how many or which grandchildren are coming over Saturday afternoons. It's rare that all four come over together any more. The three older kiddos are pretty busy with sports and other social events. Today, Matthew and Kaity came over.
MATTHEW means "gift of God" and I want to tell you that today, Matthew was exactly that for me. You see, sometimes it is difficult to connect with Kaity and it is challenging to play with her and keep her focused on one activity for more than ... two seconds.
Matthew was exceptionally kind and entered into play with Kaity today SO nicely. They built a train layout together, sharing the track and the trains.

Kaity helped me make dinner tonight. She measured out the water, milk and butter for our pasta dish. She helped to set the table. She filled our milk and water glasses. She did a super job! Thank you, Kaity.
They went into the playroom and built houses for the stuffed animals using just about everything in the playroom to do so! I could hear them adding "rooms" to their houses, fixing meals for their pets, arranging transportation, etc. It was very cool.

Our Bible story tonight was about the anointing of Solomon as the king of Israel. Matt and Kaity colored in pictures of the story. We learned about David's royal mule that Solomon rode down to Gihon and how he was anointed there at the spring that provided life-giving water to Jerusalem. We also compared this to what Jesus did on Palm Sunday, how it signified his Kingship and answered the prophecy in Zechariah. Matthew always, always, always, asks intelligent and very pointed questions. I love watching him think through a story. Kaity is also a very good listener during our Bible times.
I felt like tonight was a real gift ... made possible in large part because Matthew was with us. Matthew has a sensitive heart, which is why sometimes life is difficult for him. He feels stuff keenly and I am thankful that he does. Lord, please speak to Matthew TRUTH from Your Word. Help him to LISTEN and UNDERSTAND. Please give Matt faith that SEES and PERCEIVES the Truth. Help him to know You personally, God, as Lord and Savior. Thank You for this night with these two dear grandchildren.
