Extraordinary Kaity

Thursday, October 17:  I am never quite sure what Kaity and I will do on an after-school Thursday afternoon ... if the weather is nice, we try to spend a good block of time outside; however, it's getting rather chilly in Michigan (already!) ... so I talked Kaity in to coming to my house first to talk over our later plans.
Kaity-Girl was full of ideas today. We did thumb print pictures for a very long time. In between new thumb designs, Kaity would play us a beautiful song on my recorder, which she would make up rather spontaneously. She kills me. In truth, the songs were not "beautiful" unless of course, you were her grandma.
The great thing was, though, that beautiful or not, Kaity was "making music" and found delight in doing so.

 Kaity was super enthused!
For our Bible story this afternoon, we talked about The Good Shepherd. Kaity colored a very nice picture as I taught about how a shepherd loves his little lambs and watches over them.
We used my little stuffed lamb and named her "Kaitlynn Lamb" for the sake of our story. It seems that when Jesus called all the sheep to the sheep gate, Kaitlynn wasn't ready to come! She ran the opposite direction, over the rocky hills, and down some valleys until ...

... oh no! She fell down a crevice in the rock and was stuck! She was bleating like crazy ... but she had wandered SO FAR AWAY.
Thankfully, Jesus had counted all of the sheep before closing the sheep gate. He discovered that his much-love Kaitlynn lamb was ... MISSING! He shut the gate safely on the other sheep, grabbed His staff and went out searching high and low (Kaity and I went on the search for our dear lamb) ...
... we finally heard her faint bleating. Jesus took his staff and scooped his little lamb out of the crack in the rock. Her little leg was badly injured and she had some other injuries too. We took her over to our story table and applied some bandages and wrapped her leg very tenderly. Kaity was SO INTO the story. Kaity has a very tender heart. I told her that Jesus loves her very much and that she is His very own lamb.
Our First Mate came out to play with Kaity ... well, more accurately, Kaity invaded his cage and grabbed him out to sit on her shoulder. She gave him several kisses and spent a lot of time loving on him.
We decided to treat ourselves to McDonald's tonight. The closest one to my house has a separate room that I think used to offer various video games to play--none of them were working ... but there was this crazy old foosball game ...
Kaity and I played two rounds of it. Oh my! Talk about getting INTO A GAME! Kaity was like over the top about this game. We got laughing so hard ... it was WONDERFUL.

Dear, dear Kaity ... you are so good for your grandma's heart.

Did you notice what was written on Kaity's shirt. It says, "Be Extraordinary!" I explained that word to Kaity and told her she definitely fit the meaning. What a happy time we had together today, Kaity!
